3 Techniques to Memorise Easily3 Techniques to Memorise Easily
One of the hardest parts in studying is memorisation – especially when it is the exam season and you need to store in as much info as you can.
It is not too difficult to learn how to memorise fast and easy if you use the right techniques. However, a lot of people do not know the right strategies to achieve this.
In this article, you will learn some the best techniques to master the art of recalling. So, how do you do it?
1. Know your learning style
Before even trying to memorise, you should first understand your learning style. You could be a visual, auditory, reading, or kinesthetic learner. Depending on what type of learner you are will make it easier for you to memorise fast. For instance, visual learners memorise best through sight, so use a lot of visual aids, colours, or drawings. If you are an auditory learner, then you should use podcasts, recorded lectures, or audiobooks instead of reading.
2. Use the 3 Rs in memorisation
Registration, retention, and recalling are the three steps you need to master to memorise easily and quickly. The first step is registration, or also called recording. You do this by reading, writing, or hearing the data you want to memorise. The next step is retention, which helps you retain the information from your short-term memory to your long-term memory so you could recall it later. You can do this step by linking the information to a place or memory so you could easily recall it later. Lastly, recalling is the stage where you retrieve the information you have stored from the first two steps.
3. Use mnemonics
According to a Hong Kong ib maths tutor, one of the most effective techniques in memorisation is using mnemonic devices. Simply put, it is a technique that helps you remember something. An example of a mnemonic would be making a short abbreviation for long sentences or words you want to remember. Another example is using your parts of your body to incorporate an information.
Try these three easy steps in your next study session and see how much your memorisation will improve.
